My son: the wild man! :)

Last night I had to actually put LC in his crib half dressed for bed. Diaper and onsie. No pants, no socks, no nursing. I had just given him a bath, where he insisted on crawling from the front to the back of the tub, splashing (that was fun, he was so smiley!), attempted to eat the tub and the shower curtain )but wait, we don't have him on my dental insurance yet - how were we to know he'd have 8 teeth by 10 months!?), stand up holding on to the tub, use the faucet to hold on to to pull to standing, and try to eat and grab at any and all toys, shampoo, and soap bottles within and out of range. He proceeded to roll over and around on the changing table despite me giving him a distraction toy (or two since he throws one behind him almost immediately and has impeccable aim for being a behind shot, so that it goes right into the dirty diaper trashcan. Wrangling him was rough on the Momma last night - so while he was half dressed for bed, I put him in his crib to "get a grip" while I cleaned up the bathtub and drained the water. It was just a few minutes, but in that time we both calmed down. J came in to see what was up - he was busy vacuuming the floor from the couscous / dinner disaster that had occurred 15 minutes earlier. Note: you can'd hide cous cous in babyfood - they are SO onto it :) And J then quoted the movie that we watched in our birthing class where the Daddy said "set the baby down ( in a safe place) and walk away" :) Hey, I did that! I did that! :) LC was in no danger, I was in no danger - we both just needed a breather to calm down. And with the biting that now scares me with each evening nursing session, the anxiety was amped up. Picked him up, finished getting dressed, brushed teeth, read story, then LC bit Daddy's arm - we said 'no biting, that hurts daddy', we set him down in his crib and he looked up at us and started crying. We signed "hurt", you "hurt" Daddy's arm when you bite. Picked him up, nursed, and after he was done (no biting), laid him in his crib where he was still awake but overstimulated, overtired, frustrated, The Great Unknown, and he cried for a few more minutes before falling asleep and sleeping all night til we woke up to his little babbles and clapping at 6:05am this morning. Oh my sweet boy, how you test your mother, and show your mother you love her at the same time. You go from biting, to giving me BIG hugs and kisses and blowing your sweet baby breath right in my face :) Your Momma loves you more than words can say and each stage is a new learning experience for all of us!
