Relief is just a pump away

So with LC sleeping all night (knock on wood / hopefully I didn't jinx it), my body is having to do some adjusting on the milk making front. I.E. it needs to learn that LC isn't waking up to eat 1 or 2 times a night and when he does wake up in the morning, he doesn't need to drink 14ozs of milk - yes 14ozs, because when they are FULL, they are FULL, as in 7ozs to 9ozs each, max capacity, leaking like when he was a newborn!

As with anything in the breastfeeding world, the key is consistency. And in this case (and maybe others), consistency = 1 week. So while for a week I woke up engorged, unable to roll over on my side in the night, and hoping with all hope that he would be hungry when he woke up (he was/is), I got through it.

And just this morning, I think that my body is starting to get the message. I wasn't AS full, certainly not uncomfortable, so that's good! But he has taken to nursing on one side in the morning - which yeah, if you can get 7ozs out I'm sure fills him up. So by my 10am pumping session, I'm ready for some relief on one side of the other :)

And btw, he works SO much better than my pump where it takes me 15 to 20 minutes to get a bottle, he sucks it down n' out in about 5 minutes. Ah, sweet relief! Complete with a huge burp afterwards and wanting to sit up and really greet the day and give me hugs and kisses. He's like an adult getting his cup of morning coffee in before really being awake and happy lol.

As far as pumping at work - still on it - 3 times a day. But with this sleeping through the night, I'm able to get a good 2 bottles out of my first pumping session, and 1 + for the 2nd and 3rd sessions.

I'm divvying up the ounces differently now since it seems he's not really feeling the 7oz feedings, but has cut himself back to drinking 5ozs per bottle and drinks it all. Still monitoring at daycare this week, but switching it up. And they always feed him his milk before his solid meal, so that is VERY good - had a few days where they were confused, but he was still drinking his 3 bottles. All on the same page now though!

If it goes well all week, and I can consistently get 2 bottles in the morning (and he doesn't drink more than 3 in a day), then I may be safe to cut out my afternoon pump since he nurses before dinner when we get home.

One day at a time though, but oddly, I'm okay with this, as I was with the progression into solid foods, and everything else I manage to freak out about before it happens, but then end up being ready and calm at my own will when the time hits.
