No, we're not doing it yet - in fact I'm hoping to get out a full 6 months of exclusively breastfeeding. I have a list from both the pediatrician and the La Leche League of signs that they MIGHT be ready for solids and signs that they ARE ready for solids.
Solids...weaning...words that are foreign in my vocabulary.
Words that terrify me to no end.
With the first bite of solid food, the weaning process begins...after all that we have been through...all that we have been through...you remember, the sore nipples, the back and for between doctor and lactation consultant and pediatrician...the bad latch (for 6 weeks), the struggle and success we finally hit when we got to 8 weeks...the honeymoon phase of the 2 to 4 month markers.
The joy of our nursing sessions in the morning, in the middle of the night, and before bedtime - and all the times in between - before and after naps on my days off.
We are soaking them up - watching LC - following his lead. So far he's gobbling up the milk...and for now...that's what the Momma needs...he needs me...I need him...just a little longer...just a little bit....
