Fortunately, so far, LC has been a stellar sleeper - as in, he doesn't really cry out at night, instead he wakes himself up, makes some noises, & sucks on his fingers (loudly). I sleep lighter and tend to wake up every 3 hours regardless. Our nighttime routine thus far is to feed him one last time around 9 or 10, depends on the day, he eats every 3 hours during the day. Sometimes at night we get a little off track which puts us a little off track during the day with the exact times (not like 6, 9, 12, etc but maybe 6:30, 9:30, etc). Maybe I'm too anal about this? Whatever!
So after his last feeding, we change him and put him in his bassinet. Sometimes he is still awake, other times, he is conked out.
sidenote: we've learned to change him after his feedings and not before, because sometimes farts turn into poops, turns into 2 diaper changes in 20 minutes. And we're not even onto the cloth yet lol!
Then usually in 3 hours I wake up, asses the situation, and either wake him up or go back to bed. We read in our pediatrician's handbook to just not let them go more than 5 or 6 hours between feedings at night, but to keep them on every 3 hours during the day.
That being said, we let him tell us when it's time to eat. And he does!
Last night he woke up at 1:00 (4 hours between), and 3:30, and then not again until 6:30. So maybe his tummy is getting on a routine too! So cool how it all fits together :)
He is such a good baby - we could not feel more blessed to have him with us - and yes, we still stare at him and say 'wow, he's really here!'
