C-section recovery

So as you all know, a c-section wasn't really in my "plan", more like a last result, which it ended up being, and for the best best best!

But the recovery, wow, I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't what it ended up being lol!

Not being able to walk, pain with every step, almost fainting the first time I got up from the bed the next morning, being frustrated that I couldn't move to and fro like I'm used to.

Being worried about getting an infection.

A massive scar across my abdomen.

But you know what -- I could nurse my baby the next day, and I could pump colostrum for him in the meantime (which he never ended up using since he is a stellar nurser).

I could hold my baby, I could give him kisses and hugs, and feed him like a champ.

He is a quick study that Little Cub!

Rooting the first time I held him - and eating like a champ for our first nursing session in the NICU - even our lactation consultant (who taught all our classes by the way) was impressed with how awesome he was with his rooting, latching and eating :)

And today, 1 week and 1 day out - I honestly feel like a new woman! I was able to go for a walk this morning and it felt amazing. It didn't hurt - I didn't take any pain medicine today - and sweet baby is eating and pooping with the best of 'em.

So yeah, I'd do this a million times over :) But, my doctor did say we could try for a VBAC the next go round so that'd be super cool huh!

  1. wow - you so lucky! My recovery was much longer and trying than yours! And we are STILL having latching problems so we are using a breast shield. How great that everything is working like clockwork! Congrats to your new family!
