Well, we've made it to the 2 week point in LC's life! We had our 2 week (well, 2 week and 2 days) appointment at the pediatrician this morning!
We've managed to keep him fed, changed, and, well, thriving for the past 2 weeks - thank goodness! Not that I doubted J and I for a second, but really, I feel like adults have babies and those adults know exactly what to do and how to care for said babies the minute they come out. Like how can I be trusted to do such a thing when I have no experience, no prerequisites lol. Like I am not an adult - um, I think I am, and J is too. It just feels weird to be a parent. But I gotta admit, I love the responsibility of it all. Feeding, changing, cuddling, kissing, hugging, and staring in awe at our little bundle.
At any rate, back to the story: as is in my nature, I was a bundle of nerves going into the appointment, hoping with all hope that LC had gained weight and was up to his birth weight at least, if not more. With the BFing, I'm doing the best I can, switching sides, only one side, every 3 hours, on demand at night, etc. Referencing my books as needed, talking to my Mom and other moms who BF. And I knew in my heart (and the 6 to 8 wet/dirty dipes per day), that LC was gaining weight so he was getting enough.
I'll be darned if we supplement with formula - it's just not for us - well, for me. I'll do all I can to feed our baby myself.
And, fortunately, LC amazed us once again - surpassing his birth weight by 2 ozs! He now weighs 7 lbs 10ozs! What a rockstar right!
He has also grown an inch and is up to 22 inches long! A tall lean mean fighting machine!
And his head is 35 and 1/4 centimeters - got brain!! :)
The doctor was very impressed with his head control and his tummy time achievements - he can hold up and turn his head and hold up his back legs during tummy time!
And she said he had the cutest features.
And he was a perfect angel during the appointment, being very cooperative, not crying out once, and just being still and looking intently at what was going on around him and to him.
That's our boy!

cutie!
