My first cloth diaper washing

After FINALLY figuring out a)the best detergent to buy for such a washing b)finding out where to purchase said detergent (Planet, which can be found at our local Kroger which is basically across the street from our apartment). I dove in the other weekend for a 3 wash/dry cycle of prefolds. Wash on hot, rinse on cold, dry on hot.

Fortunately our washer and dryer has these settings - um, it's a rented machine and I don't know how awesome it really is - kinda made a weird noise in the hot cycles, but hey, it worked!

Lotsa nerves and checking and double checking emailed washing instructions and we've got a successful foray into the world of washing prefolds!

But not before one last email check to make sure my washer settings are correct!


For real this time - they're IN the washer!


And after 3 washings and 3 drying cycles, they'are OUT of the dryer for the LAST time! Well before they get used by a certain little someone :) And they're all fluffy and absorbant and ready for some hard core pee and poo :)


All nestled in their drawer in the changing table! Next to the burp clothes - which are all really prefolds as well. Imagine that! :)

To wash the covers another time - I have 4 Thirsties covers but wanted to get a couple more before embarking on that journey - although it's not nearly as nerve wracking as the prefold washing was! Shew!

And washing the flat diapers this weekend, also not as nerve wracking since I'm "seasoned" with the prefolds :) hehe.
