I had deduced after doing my daycare research and learning that prices are like more than a mortgage and/or some rent per month / week, including potential discounts, that LC will just have to chill with me at work, in his carseat, content with his rattles and wooden truck from my Dad, and some grub from his Mommy everyday. After my 12 to 16 week maternity leave is over of course.
He could sit behind the desk with me and sleep and coo and draw (noiseless) attention to his cute self, it would be great ... right....right?
How two people ever afford one child, let alone MORE than one, like SEVERAL more than one (which we would like to have eventually), is beyond me. They say kids are pricey and they are right and that is okay, I mean you don't want to skimp when it comes to daycare - I've already had nightmares about places letting him cry and plopping him in front of a tv and not paying attention to him or interacting with him all the time, and him sitting in a wet diaper or being the last one picked up at the end of a long day, chilling in his carseat...oh don't get me started...
However, we will make it work. I know we will. With more time and patience and an open mind, someone (or several someones) will be watching our dear little cub for us while we work 8 hours a day 5 days a week. And he'll be okay with it, hey he'll probably make more friends than us lol! And he'll be the talk of the town with his good behavior and sweetness that I know he'll have oozing out of his sweet, soft skin.
But being in the throes of finding the perfect place is rough right now. That is all.

now you know why so many of us are stay at home moms (or dads) - the cost of daycare/nanny for 2+ kids often negates that second paycheck! it's very frustrating how expensive it is - i remember going through the SAME process myself in DC...except i was calling when i was 8 weeks pregnant to get on the waitlists that were 18mo-2years long. crazy! good luck - it'll all work out!
