The Great Furniture Pick-Up of 2011

All of my anxieties of having our nursery cleared before the furniture have been put to rest! J worked on Friday night and Saturday morning and got the room clear! Granted we have a few extra mirrors and other odds and ends hanging out in our living room and bedroom, the nursery was cleared just in time!

We ended up renting a cargo van because J's Dad was worried about getting the seats in and out of his van to transport the furniture - and in hindsight, it was totally a great idea although I panicked at first. There was no way that stuff would have fit in the van, even in 3 separate trips - the weight, etc would have not been good and the seats would have had to come all the way out instead of just folded down. Grammy and Pops treated us to the cargo van while we treated them to some pizza afterwards :) Fair trade right!

In the time it took J to reserve the van, the time slots got taken so we ended up getting one in at 5pm which also worked out since it gave J more time to get the room cleared out!

Proper documentation of The Great Furniture Pick Up - by yours truly because, um yes, this was a big deal!


The van - that was 20 minutes late being returned by the owner so while we were 15 minutes early to pick it up, we had to wait til almost 5:30 to take off - at least the Toys R Us was right down the street!

J and I waiting to get the furniture loaded - ps that dolly, more for book boxes than big furniture containing boxes, but it did help them get it up the steps at our apartment thank goodness!


There it is! All safe and sound and packaged to a T being loaded into the truck!


Sweet Jesus, I'm trying not to have a heart attack watching these two manuever up the stairs and around the corner with 130+ lbs of wood crib - at least it had straps - the other two pieces did not and it was dicey and there were times I swore that we'd open it and it would be all chipped up!



We all took a deep breath here!



Success! Shew! It looks PERFECT! The color, not a scratch on it (the cats will not be allowed in this room - they've actually not been allowed in for months while we stored LC's stuff in there).


Tall dresser and changing table - our little fox basket we registered for should fit perfectly next to the changing pad so we can put his lil diaper accessories at hands reach :)

The crib is against the other wall where J intends to build it at some point this week. We will get the mattress this week and get it all set up with his bedding! OMG is it really going to happen - it is really going to come together!
