We had a lovely Thanksgiving with J's parents! His mom made a honey baked ham, mac n' cheese (my fave!), green beans, rolls, and 2 fudge pies! We got to take a whole pie home with us!
We made cranberry compote (my Aunt D's but really my Granny's friend's recepie, but my Aunt D always makes it for our family gatherings), and J's parents first taste - ask me if there was any left -- yes, however, J's parents wrapped up those leftovers and put them in the fridge for later :) We'll be making it again a couple more times this season so we were all too happy to share. J made sweet potato fluff, and a pumpkin pie. All was delish! A few pics from the day:

The great pouring by Chef J

Post-pouring, pre-baking ... we were worried it was too full, but aside from a small crack down the middle (or as J called it a 'chasm'), it turned out lovely! And we split the leftovers and enjoyed some last night over Alvin & The Chipmunks :)
And on to the cranberry compote:

A snippet of the recipe, hand written by my Mom :) If you want it let me know and I can email it to you - is not a secret and is super yummy so would love to share :)

Sometimes your hands are the best mixers. J begs to differ, but I have no problems diving in, and I swear, it works the best! Pardon my snazzy heart tank and bad hair lol. I get ready AFTER the cooking is complete :)

Mmmm....sugar, apples and cranberries, does it GET any better - oh wait it does, when it is baked, but who can resist eating a sugar coated cranberry or apple slice! Not me!!!

And the cleanup - it is has to be done :)
Everything was super tasty - sorry I didn't get pics of everything, nor of us all "done up" in our jeans, although we could have worn shorts for how hot it was! The 70s! Although the next day it was in the 40s so go figure. Sweating to freezing.
It was a lovely time, filled with chatting, Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, naps on the couch, and eating...mmmm food, glad to have my appetite back that's for sure :)
