Bad Evening

I hate it when Sunday evening is disappointing. It is the night before a long work week, and you want it to be uplifting and fun. Not so much over here. First, my bad pool experience. Then it got a little better when I was able to read and nap on the couch a bit this afternoon. Then back to bad again when the a/c broke and we had to shut it off for hours while waiting for (we thought) the maintenance person to come fix it. We were told he couldn't come until after the rain stopped....and the rain stopped....for 2 hours...no maintenance man...I call the emergency pager number, he calls back, says they can't get to it til tomorrow morning. Then it is 7pm and we don't know what to have for dinner (despite the fact that we have enough coupons for an army and yet somehow didn't make it out of the house to the store today)...so now J is preparing rice and beans (always a delectable dish actually) for dinner and we'll have to figure something out for lunch tomorrow since we don't have any lunch meat and only have hamburger buns as bread. Um, pbj on buns may be the answer.
Then (before the dinner debacle), we decide to finally try to hammer out some vacation time. Trying to get home at the end of the summer and one time over the holidays is the most ridiculous and outrageous thing ever and it makes me sick to my stomach at the cost of airfare. Combine those potential costs with the cost of a small getaway for our anniversary and clearly something has got to give. Not sure what it is yet, but something. I hate nights like this. I just want an enjoyable and peaceful evening leading up to the work week. And now it's almost 8 and Food Network Star will be on soon and we'll probably miss it because we'll be eating dinner despite the fact that neither of us are all too hungry after the series of debacles today.
Hmm..shockingly, writing all that out makes me feel a tad better. Maybe a little ice cream w/ chocolate syrup for dessert will do the trick - and a lil DVR of Food Network Star...hmm...there's still time to turn this evening around right? It's not bedtime for another 2 to 3 hours....
Okay, so that was too non-uplifting posts in one day. Whatayagonna do. We're all human and have bad days, but I just want this one to be over.
