The Great Snow

Wow, I couldn't have asked for a more relaxing day off! This week my days off are Thursday and Friday since I have to work on Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday was full of errands and checking things off of my to-do list, of which I was very successful! Today after J went to work I finally got back into my exercise regime. I took about a 2 month hiatus due to school work and the move so it felt great to get back into it again! I went easy and did a Denise Austin weights video instead of diving right into Jillian Michaels - maybe I'll tackle that one next week :)
Then I ran some small errands around town, hoping to beat the big snow that they were calling for. I got home around noon and J called to tell me that they closed his office so he was on his way home (yay for unexpected time together during the weekday!). He came home and we started prepping a nice dinner in the crock pot (love the crock pot on cold winter days!). The apartment smells so good now - chicken and potatoes and onion and carrots in a yummy herb broth simmering away!
So this 'great snow' they called for...really happened! They closed schools before a single flake had fallen, before 5pm yesterday! And then today around 10 it started to snow! And we've gotten about an inch, maybe two. Well for down here, it's a BIG deal (and I love it!). Around noon or so my own work closed, all of the malls in the area closed and many businesses closed. Understandable living in a place where snow and ice are out of the ordinary. I'm wondering what tomorrow holds seeing that I'm scheduled to work. Time will tell. At least if I do have to work I'm assuming it'll be a quiet day (although what I love most about this new job is how peaceful each day has been, so that's not out of the ordinary).
This afternoon was lovely - after we had lunch I settled down on the couch to read a magazine and promptly fell asleep for about 2 hours (and the whole apartment was silent - another big difference than apartment living up north - must be thicker walls down here or something). J got some stuff done on the computer and the kitties napped behind him on the bed. Our little family all together, feels so nice!
It is such a change to be able to take naps, read what I want to and just kick back and enjoy things, and have the time to do so.
Dinner is about ready so I need to get going - smells SO good!
