Things I learned while on vacation

So our vacation last week was outstanding. From the little quiet moments of reading on the porch, to the crazy fun times of riding the bumper cars and the kiddie rides at the carnival, to the throwing and eating of cake after cake and milkshake after milkshake, oh and the cookies :) here are a few of my favorite:

Seeing my Dad, in his bright orange shirt, hunched over, holding sweet LC and pulling the reigns as he rode his first pony kiddie ride. They stood out like sore thumbs and were jibber jabbering the whole ride. It was a sight to see :)

Sitting in the library with my Mom as she told me all about the latest book she was reading (The Language of Flowers) - I swear she should be a storyteller or give booktalks to reluctant readers, because I was enthralled!

Using a little of LC's naptime to order his birthday party decorations with J,  for his family party here in TN

Changing LC's poopy diaper at the local library - yeah, we did it :) And picking him up some 1st birthday board books - great interaction with their children's librarian!  I was very impressed!

Driving out to Target with my Mom and brother on a random Friday afternoon, just to look at swim goggles, and books, and have an excuse to stop at our favorite local coffee shop and sip our smoothies enroute

Reading on the porch --- nuff said -- this totally made my vacation complete - and it happened on the first day and a little bit each day after -- I stole away any time I could when things were quiet and naps were in progress, to just sit outside and read my book (Divergent, by the way - outstanding)

Smith island cake and seafood  all week long - a little piece of the Eastern Shore was in at least one part of each meal each day - and was I ever thankful! It was all I could do to not steal the rest of the cake and take it home - but I knew it wouldn't keep too well - and we have another big cake coming this weekend :)

Waking up my Granny on a Tuesday morning to play with LC and turn a pot into a drum on the kitchen floor at her house

Showing LC the pictures of his Poppy and seeing him smile and his eyes light up - he remembers - we all do :)

Watching my sweet LC drink a milkshake from a straw, and off a spoon - what can we say, the boy likes his ice cream! It was awesome!

How the laundry just showed up in our room, all clean and folded and the meals prepared and dishes washed without us having to do much to cook or clean. (Thank you Mom!!!!)

And really, the best part, just being around my family, helping hands, loving hearts, rest, relaxation and just being a family together.

I hope that LC remembers this vacation as much as I do. Thankfully we have a ton of pictures to remind him :)

Thank you.
For everything.
