6 month check-up

aka: the time I told the AAP to suck it (in my head of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinions). More on that later.

Aaaanyway, I picked LC up at daycare early today so we could head off to his big 6 month check up! Weeeee!

He was happy go lucky despite his snotty nose, sneezing, and coughing!

Weight: 18lbs 7ozs - that's on all breastmilk people, yes, we are very proud!

Height: 27 and a half inches long (we've got a tall one, thank goodness he didn't get his Momma's short genes lol)

Head circumference: I forget, but it was normal

As far as percentiles: the dr showed me the charts, and told me the percentiles, all of which were normal for his age, I don't pay much mind to that so long as there is no need for concern, and their wasn't! (really, would you expect any less!)

Upon closer evaluation, LC showed her how he could sit up by himself for a few seconds (we'll continue practicing), and his heart and lungs sounded great as he patiently looked up at her and breathed normally (without squirming surprisingly, he is SO perceptive), while she put the stethescope on his chest and back.

The nose: snotty

The ears: uh oh, an infection! our first one! But we seemed to have caught it early since it wasn't hitting the eardrum (or something like that), so he wasn't showing us any symptoms yet. So we got an rx for amoxacylin 2 times for 10 days.

The shots: 5, two in each thigh and one orally in liquid form. Sucked down the liquid shot (or so we thought), cried a little as the shots went in but the Momma was right there kissing his forehead and telling him it was alright and putting his paci in. Picked him up right when it was over and he calmed right down - the nurse even said "quick recovery". Then I put him in his carseat and he spit up clear liquid - um the shot!? - maybe - no way to tell - but we can just hope that what he needed of it was swallowed and absorbed properly b/c there is no do-over on that.

Then we started talking about solids....
