What being a working mom means to me

I'm sure it's different for everyone, but for me, at 2 days in, here's what I've got.

Being a working mom means:

Racing home from work like it's Christmas morning, not being able to wait to see LC for the first time since 7AM

Hoping that he stays awake just a liiiiittle bit longer so we can get in those extra hugs, snuggles & kisses

Throwing together dinner as fast as we can, eating it while making our sweet LC laugh biiig belly laughs (that was the best the first day back!)

Eating chicken nuggets and green beans for dinner because it's easy & fast with little cleanup

Walking out to get the mail for the day at 7:30am

Getting the mail 2 days late

Letting the dust gather on the coffee table

And the debris on a carpeted apartment that hasn't been vacuumed in entirely too long

Doing laundry on an as needed basis - this part will get better I think :)

Finally feeding my baby myself, the pump taking a backseat

Holding on to him just a little bit longer after he falls asleep in my arms at bedtime

Listening to him snore, feeling his soft cheek against mine as he drifts off after his bedtime feeding

Reading him a story even though he is asleep in his crib

Being so tired that all 3 of us sleep through the night

Bright smiles and bright eyes in the morning as I make the coffee, prep the bottles, and narrate our morning while he plays in his rocking seat

Blowouts & spit-up 5 minutes before we're supposed to leave - quick change!

Joy in seeing LC grow and learn and play with others, and take longer naps at daycare - he's adjusting after just one day! :)

The pride I have in myself for going to work, using my degree, and enjoying it while missing LC but knowing that he is in the best care possible, and he is being challenged and learning as well.

The admiration I have for J, who, despite not being a morning person, sets his alarm an hour early, to go off multiple times, to wake up, get himself (and his breakfast and lunch) ready, and get out the door with LC by 6:45am.

It's definitely a team effort. Team Bear as we call it over here

We're making it work - as tiring and rewarding as it all is and will continue to be - it's the best thing that has happened to us.

LC we would do anything for you - our love grows every single day.
