Operation: Assemble the Swing

In case you couldn't tell by previous posts, we were in full on nesting mode in our house on Saturday. Built the stroller, and then built the swing! So we're slowly but surely clearing out some of the boxes that have been cluttering the corner of the nursery (and driving me nuts - shocker).

The swing is gorgeous and will hopefully provide hours of entertainment for LC - as it should considering trying to strap on the cover proved to be more difficult than actually assembling the rest of the thing lol. All well worth it, and fun since it was again, a joint project for us.

Getting it out of the box is always an ordeal - pulling off all the labels, breaking the box and other little pieces for proper recycling (we've been to the recycling center on a weekly basis pretty much- Go Green!)

Legs are built, and now the hardest part - getting enough slack on the cover to make it latch on the little hooks on the underside of the swing. This was totally a team effort!

As was snapping on the tray, which while he won't use that first up, it's better to snap it on now than to store it somewhere.

Ah, the sweet site of success! It now sits in the corner next to his crib, in preparation to be moved anywhere it needs to be to keep the little guy content! We figure between the swing and the infant bouncy seat, things will get moved around a lot, so while I am crazy obsessed with having the nursery in tip top shape, I know it won't be perfect the whole time - which is okay - I'm coming to terms with it at least :)

And we also latched the changing pad to the changing table, so the whole apparatus doesn't go sliding off the table and on to the floor. I also assured J that we did NOT need those straps that hold the baby in position, one or two hands, and most likely 4 sets of eyes during his diaper changes and he's not going anywhere - so we tucked those under the changing pad and it looks great.

This involved a drill and a very anxiety ridden J, worrying that he would mess up the dresser and the drawer going in and out. Again, I assured him it was fine - and um, it totally was! Sheesh lol.

Remaining calm and remembering to laugh is clearly in our future with this baby.
