Fatigue
You know when they write in those pregnancy books and magazines that you may / most likely / definitely will have some fatigue in your first trimester. WOW…um they were kind of right on the money! I think that I’ve been pretty fortunate thus far – it hasn’t been horrible like I’m sludging through mud on a daily basis, but when it hits, it hits hard and shows no mercy! Case and point: last Sunday we got up, ate breakfast and went for a 2 mile walk, I was feeling good, energetic. Then got home did a load of laundry and all of the sudden at around noon was like I MUST lie down RIGHT NOW! So I curled up in my workout gear / comfy clothes and took an hour long nap in the middle of the day. And THEN, at about 3pm, it happened again, I had had lunch, was reading and puttering around the apartment, finishing laundry and such and BAM, I’m hit – I go lie down on the couch and proceed to nap for another hour – and still felt groggy until it was officially time for bed…um around 9pm!
And then yesterday (10/20), at around 5:20pm (I got off at 5:30 thankfully), I started to feel it coming on, like that feeling you get right before you fall asleep and you can’t possibly keep your eyes open…it’s a miracle I made it home because I walked in the door, J took one look at me, set up my pillow on the couch, I dropped my bag and curled up and slept solid for an hour! Got up had some dinner and went to bed around 10 and promptly fell asleep (and had weird dreams, but the literature again warns you about that too). So those are just two cases, but there have been a couple more, and we still have 3ish weeks go to before the supposed energy is going to come back. But I’m happy with it for sure – hormones are kickin’ in fast n’ furious and baby is getting his/her grow on! Plus, this fatigue will be old hat once the baby pops out anyway I fully intend to ‘nap when the baby naps’ (she says that now HA)
