Vacation Part IV

You all still with me!? Grab your coffee, soda, jug of water, or whatever makes ya comfy and sit back and relax cuz here we go with Sunday :)

Sunday, we woke up - to the lovely sunlight streaming through and not a sound about the place (odd to not have Rocky crying and Lambi hopping up on the bed for pets) and got ready and went down to breakfast. A lovely kiesh with asparagus and peppers and onions, and a biscuit as well as a cup of canteloupe on the side. In case you were wondering :)

Then we drove over to the Grove Park Inn...which is like Asheville's version of NYC's The Plaza Hotel. Huge, elaborate, GORGEOUS views, oh, and a walk-in fireplace with rockers line up in front of it so you can cozy up and read, chat, or watch the roaring fire :)
Look at that gorgeous view of the mountains!! Breathtaking huh! The whole place was like that. Everywhere you turned, every window you looked out had that beautiful view! A-mazing!

After walking around the Inn, we took a trip over to the Biltmore (the main draw of the trip to begin with)

Sidenote: J knows that I don't really like going to museums, HOWEVER, we have both learned that I do enjoy historical things if they are in the context of say, someone's home - i.e. our trip to the Jackson Pollock house last year. So he thought that the Biltmore, being a HUGE home with TONS to see inside and on the grounds, would be a good idea. He was right :) Another reason why I love him so much! Learning and growing together :)

We got a two day pass (with an AAA discount - YEAH) so we could go for a little bit Sunday afternoon and then again on Monday for the whole shebang.

Here she is ... America's largest house ... breathtaking! And such gorgeous landscaping...the gardens were to-die-for!

We were too late to go into the house (it closes at 4:30), but we peeked in a few rooms just to get a taste of it for the next day. And we wandered the gardens. J must have used up his entire camera memory taking pictures of the beautiful flowers! We will be able to make a collage I'm sure :) They were gorgeous and if you're into gardening and flowers, etc you should definitely check this place out! They even had a section in a greenhouse for container gardening!!!! (That was J's favorite part) :)

Ya still hangin' with me!? Good. Because after the Biltmore (we skipped lunch b/c we were so full from breakfast), we had THE BEST MEAL I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE......next post :)
