Ah Sunday
2.5 hour afternoon naps
Reading on the couch
Did I mention reading never gets old for me I could wrap myself up in novels for days if I had the time :)
Hoping lc inherits this trait! So far so good!
The park at 9am with my boys
A pit stop at Einstein bagels for coffee and a pumpkin bagel with pumpkin cream cheese before our weekly publix run
Family breakfast and family dinner together
A new show on PBS that just might be my newest addiction (call the midwife)
Quiet moments in the afternoon just me and my book while j ran a quick errand and lc finished up his nap
Dinner at 6pm -- this is a record On Sunday lately :)
Sitting on the floor with lc while he ate his snack and sipped his milk - and smiled for the camera
And accepted kisses from his mamma
(So thankful for this stage I know it won't last forever)
My family for 48 hours together no work n all (mostly) (some) play :)

Today j got up at 6 and I got up at 6:20. It was Saturday - a day we could sleep in til lc woke us for the day.

Yet for some reason: maybe the coffee in the quiet, logging a few more pages of my book, or just being up to get a little bit more out of the day, we were up.

We managed to get some coffee and j even breakfast before lc woke up... At 6:45 lol

And we started our day

Let me tell you that the weekends I'm off both days (2 times a month) I cherish beyond belief. We try to plan fun around errands around treats. A d get the most and best out of our 2 days together.

We had a plan today. Swimming! Naps! Spaghetti lunch for charity! Football game! Playing outdoors!

And you know what ...

We did it all :)

And then some

Meaning bogo pumpkin spice lattes after swimming and meeting new friends in our apartment complex and learning the sign for silly :)

After the day was done, the kitchen was cleaned, the toddler destruction zone disguised as our living room was put back in order, j took his cup of water and sat outside on the balcony, I folded laundry and listened to pandora. Ice cream and reading for both of us in the hour before bed.

Long day

Fun day

Day I wouldn't change a thing day

Friday evening

A little boy with a dirty shirt, a snotty nose, bug bites on his legs, a bruise on his forehead (thanks to a run in with a picnic table at the playground at daycare- nothing some ice & tlc can't handle), a new best friend (dog! Newest word and also his woobie) and a big smile on his face! Oh and showing some belly :)

Yep, that's our boy!

My boys

Taking on the big world together

And our sweet toddler loving nothing more than going upside down...after dinner

Things I want to do

Vs things I have to do. Oh how the line blurs. As j and I forage forth in our journey in our marriage as a couple, as parents, and as individuals, we are learning to prioritize the "have to" and the "want to" what is one to one of us us the other to the other.

The hard part is knowing the consequences between the two but then making sure to get some if those "want tos" in the mix ... To just stay balanced, to be better parents, a stronger couple, a better individual.

My want to list is growing and along with that is the guilt that life is so short and my time with my son is so limited that how dare I want to go to a coffee shop and sip on a pumpkin spice latte and read my book for 2 hours on a weekend day. Or go for a walk in the park in the early morning with just me and my music.

Instead I settle for waking up an hour early on my only day off in the weekend to make myself a cup of coffee and read in my pajamas as the morning light makes its way into the apartment.

I grab a 30 minute nap on the couch during lc's nap and forgo make up and drying my hair in favor of sitting down to lunch before the baby wakes up .

I spend my weekday off running errands folding laundry going to the eye dr and clamoring everything into one day to be done early so I can pick up our sweet toddler to get a little extra time in before dinner bath books n bed.

The life of a mom, of a working mom, of a wife, a friend, a daughter.

I guess for this moment in time, this is how it is, and I should make peace with it. But I feel so pulled.

This too shall pass.
